TreeBaltimore public/private partnership produces 60 new trees
Baltimore, MD (Dec. 4, 2008) – Today, Mayor Sheila Dixon joined Senator Catherine E. Pugh, Councilwoman Sharon Middleton, members of the community, and Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks to unveil the new TreeBaltimore Action Plan and to celebrate the newly formed private/public partnership with Sinai Hospital. To commemorate this award-winning effort, a ceremonial tree was planted on the grounds of Sinai Hospital.
“We are continuing to make significant progress with the TreeBaltimore program,” said Mayor Dixon. “This progress represents a terrific start to a transformative change in how Baltimore will look over the next 20 to 30 years.”
“Sinai Hospital is fully committed to being an industry leader in developing eco-friendly practices,” said Neil Meltzer, president and chief operating officer. “We are excited to partner with Baltimore City to help promote the greening of the City.”
As the first institution to partner with the TreeBaltimore program, Sinai Hospital has agreed to match the city's 30 street trees along Cylburn and Lanier avenues with planting 30 additional trees on the hospital’s property.
